FAQ
- Are my photos uploaded?
- No. Photos are processed in your browser on your own device. After the page has loaded you can even turn off your internet connection and keep using the tool.
- What does this tool remove?
- GPS location, camera and phone make and model, serial numbers, lens details, capture date and time, editing software and history, author and caption fields, and embedded thumbnails. The orientation tag is kept so your photo still displays the right way up.
- Does it reduce photo quality?
- No for JPEG, PNG and WebP: only the metadata blocks are removed and the image data is not re-compressed.
- Don't social apps remove this data anyway?
- Many do, but not all. Sending a photo as a file, by email, by AirDrop or through a cloud link often keeps the original data. Cleaning a photo before you share it is the simple way to be sure.
- What happens to images with AI labels or Content Credentials?
- Images labelled as AI-generated are left unchanged. Content Credentials (C2PA) on other photos are kept. You can view these labels with our AI Image Checker.
- Is there an app?
- iOS and Android apps are in development. Join the waitlist below and we'll let you know when they are ready.
