Quick answer

Hytale Chapter 1 — Out of the Breach — launched on October 12, 2026 (community and hotfix posts also call it Update 7 / 0.7). In an Exploration Mode save, go to the Forgotten Temple, explore the new Goblin Lab, and track goals and rewards in the new Chapter UI. Chapter 2's release date is not announced.

Timeline

2026-01-13: Early Access launch (hytale.com/news; “Hytale is finally here”). Exploration Mode and the Echo of Orbis framing from that post are the baseline Chapter I later expands.

July: first official look at goblins, Goblin Breaches and the first handcrafted dungeon. Chapter I article wording: “Back in July we gave you a first look.” That teaser is why many players searched for breach content months before the October ship date.

October 12, 2026: Chapter I ships. Official title CHAPTER I: OUT OF THE BREACH, with the line “Chapter I: Out of the Breach is out now!” Community and hotfix posts call it Update 7 / 0.7. Content enters Exploration Mode rather than a separate game mode name.

2026-10-21: hotfix 0.7.3 (official “Hotfixes: Update 7”). Read that post when a Chapter I system behaves differently from day-one notes.

2026-10-22: official Update 8 pre-release patch notes on hytale.com/news. Update 8 is not Chapter 2—see the FAQ and the final section below.

How to start Chapter I

Existing Exploration Mode saves and new saves both get Chapter I. Visit the Forgotten Temple, explore the new Goblin Lab, and unlock Chapter content; the new Chapter UI lists objectives and rewards. How this sits inside the Echo of Orbis is covered in the Orbis guide.

You do not need a fresh world solely to see Out of the Breach. Official wording is that existing and new Exploration Mode saves can play the Chapter. If your temple already felt active before October 12, return there for the Goblin Lab path and the Chapter tracker rather than deleting the save.

What Chapter I added

Temporary portals and Goblin Breaches: unstable Orbis fragments claimed by goblins that regenerate each entry until the Void pushes you out. Details: Goblin Breach.

A Runestone-based ability system: up to two Ability Runestones with Modifier Runestones on a Runebinder's Lattice. Ability stones cost two shards; modifiers cost one (official patch notes). Farming: Runestone Shards.

The first handcrafted dungeon and a multi-phase boss: Deepworks and Gobliterator.

Goblin Repair Kit: official addition that repairs without lowering maximum durability.

Taken together, Chapter I is a content pack layered onto Exploration Mode: portals and breaches for repeatable fragment runs, Runestones for combat loadouts, a handcrafted dungeon climax, and quality-of-life repair. Individual systems each have their own JoocGame guide so this page can stay the release-date and contents hub.

Minigames and cosmetics

Official copy says minigames “will be available shortly after Chapter I launches”—see our minigames guide. That sentence is why a minigames page can exist before every mode is live: the studio promised them relative to Chapter I, not as a separate dated Chapter.

More than 100 cosmetics shipped with the Chapter wave; progressing Chapter I unlocks the Scrap Arcanist and Junk Pilot sets. Cosmetic counts and set names here follow the official Chapter I article, not storefront screenshots from other editions.

Cursebreaker Edition gifts

Official wording: during Early Access, each Chapter grants Cursebreaker Edition owners one extra Standard Edition to gift; if six Chapters ship before 1.0, that is six gifts. Details: Cursebreaker Edition.

Because Chapter I already shipped on October 12, 2026, Cursebreaker owners looking for the matching gift should follow official store and account mail rather than third-party key sellers. This page only restates the per-Chapter gift rule from official copy.

When is Chapter 2?

Chapter 2 release date: not announced. The official site does not publish a Chapter 2 date.

Community site hytalecharts paraphrases developer Slikey replying on X on October 1 that “Update 8 is NOT chapter 2,” and that Updates are semi-regular patches while Chapters are larger, longer, more secretive content packs. That reply exists only on X, not on the official site, so treat it as a community paraphrase of a developer reply.

Practical reading: watch hytale.com/news for the next Chapter announcement the same way Chapter I arrived as Out of the Breach on October 12, 2026. Until then, Update posts (including Update 8 notes) are regular patches, not a substitute Chapter 2 ship date.

If you only needed the release date: October 12, 2026 for Chapter 1 (Out of the Breach); Chapter 2 remains not announced on the official site.
