Chapter I (2026-10-12 patch)

Linen Scraps: drops, farming spots and recipes

Linen Scraps are a common fabric ingredient you will spend early and often: iron armor, iron weapons and thorium gear all call for them. The official [Chapter I patch notes](https://hytale.com/news/2026/10/chapter-i-out-of-the-breach) do not list drop rates. Every drop table, fishing-trap chance and recipe count below comes from community wikis and guide sites read on 2026-10-29, and each one is labelled. For the world layout, see the Orbis guide.

Quick answer

Linen Scraps cannot be crafted. You get them from humanoid enemies, chests, fishing traps, or by salvaging iron armor. The fastest loop is cycling skeleton ruins, Trork camps and mountain goblin camps in Zone 1 Emerald Wilds, and looting the camp chests. One Iron Cuirass costs six Linen Scraps.

What Linen Scraps are

The community wiki (hytalewiki, read 2026-10-29) lists Linen Scraps as an Ingredient with a stack size of 100. The item text describes scraps of a common fabric used by many of Orbis' species to fashion their clothing.

Game Rant states they can't be crafted (so far) and must come from combat, chests, fishing-related harvests or salvage. The official patch notes never publish a drop rate for this material, so every number on this page is community data.

Enemy drops (community wiki)

Drops come mainly from humanoid enemies: skeletons, goblins and Trorks. Game Rant notes that creature-type enemies such as Fen Stalkers do not drop Linen Scraps. That split matters when you are clearing swamps or wildlife dens: those kills feed other materials, not this fabric stack.

hytalewiki drop table (selected rows): Skeleton Fighter / Soldier / Knight / Mage each 1–3 at 100%; Skeleton Archer 1–3 at 50%; Goblin Scrapper, Miner, Lobber, Thief and Hermit each 1–3 at 100%; Goblin Duke 2–4 at 100%; Trork Warrior, Hunter, Sentry, Shaman and Chieftain each 1–3 at 100%; Zombie 1–2 at 100%; Ghoul 2–6 at 50%; most Frost and Sandswept skeletons 1–3 at 100%.

Conflicting report: Polygon's playtest says every enemy drops only one. The wiki numbers come from game files; Polygon reports live observation. Both are listed here—trust what you see in your world. If your client consistently shows one scrap per kill, plan iron-set budgets with the Polygon rate; if you see the wider wiki ranges, the Fighter and Duke rows above explain why a single camp clear can jump by several scraps at once.

Goblin Duke is the standout row at 2–4 scraps with a 100% chance on the wiki table, so a camp that includes a Duke is worth finishing even when the timer on another goal is tight. Archer skeletons at 50% are still worth killing when you are already in the ruin, but they are a weaker reason to detour alone.

Fishing traps, chests and salvage

Fishing Trap: each harvest has roughly a 3% to 3.4% chance to yield 1–5 Linen Scraps. hytaleguide.net lists 3.4%; AivarCraft lists 3%. This page keeps both. At those odds, traps are a background trickle rather than a primary farm—leave them running while you clear camps, then collect when you pass the water again.

Chest chances (AivarCraft, per chest): Small Ancient Chest 58% for 1–6, found in goblin Crypts, Enkindled outposts and similar; Small Feran Chest 14% for 1–8 in Feran camps; Small Crude Chest 14% for 1–3 in Labyrinth dungeons, mines, plains ruins, shipwrecks and the like. Ancient chests are the only community row above 50%, so goblin Crypt and Enkindled routes double as fabric routes when you were already going there for other loot.

Salvaging Iron Cuirass, Iron Gauntlets or Iron Helm also returns Linen Scraps (AivarCraft). Extra early iron pieces can be broken down for fabric if you craft a spare set while learning recipes, then salvage the pieces you do not wear.

Where to farm: camp types

Polygon notes that Zone 1 Emerald Wilds already has skeletons, goblins and Trorks, so you do not need later zones first. Game Rant's camp cues: skeleton ruins have walls; Trork camps sit on mud and appear on hills, flats and mountains; goblin camps are inside mountains. Camp enemies respawn, and camp chests are worth searching.

Practical loop: mark two or three camps on the map, clear a circuit, then return—more reliable than camping one spawn. Stack chest looting with kills so the fabric pile grows faster. Later Goblin Breach runs have their own material lines, but camp farming in the main world remains the Linen Scraps backbone.

When you expand into Howling Sands or Whisperfrost Frontiers for thorium and cobalt, Frost and Sandswept skeletons still appear on the wiki drop list at 1–3 with a 100% chance for most rows. Treat those zones as a bonus fabric source while mining, not as a reason to skip the Emerald Wilds circuit that Polygon highlights for early play.

What uses them: iron and thorium recipes

Recipes below are from hytalewiki (Armorer's Workbench and Blacksmith's Anvil, read 2026-10-29). Official Chapter I notes do not reprint these ingredient counts, so every number in this section is community data.

Iron Cuirass: 16 iron ingots + 7 Light Leather + 6 Linen Scraps. Iron Helm and Iron Gauntlets cost 3 each; Iron Greaves cost 4; Iron Shield costs 3. Iron sword, dagger and shortbow cost 3 each.

Thorium Cuirass: 7 (plus Venom Sac ×4); Thorium Helm: 4; Thorium Greaves: 6; other thorium weapons: 3 each.

A full iron set (chest + helm + gloves + greaves) is 6+3+3+4 = 16 scraps; add a shield and three weapons for twelve more. A single thorium cuirass already wants seven, so stockpile before pushing into Howling Sands. If you craft both a travel iron set and a home spare, double the iron-side total before you touch thorium recipes.

Repair kits and Chapter I

Game Rant lists Repair Kit as needing Linen Scraps, Light Leather and Iron Ingots. Chapter I officially added the Goblin Repair Kit, which repairs without lowering maximum durability (official Chapter I article). Whether the Goblin Repair Kit recipe needs Linen Scraps is not announced and has not been verified in community sources, so this page stops there.

Like the backpack and spider silk, Linen Scraps sit in the early economy: fund iron gear first, then keep stacks for thorium and repairs. Related reading: backpack guide and Spider Silk. World layout for where those camps sit is covered in the Orbis guide.

Nothing in the official patch notes assigns a published drop rate to Linen Scraps. If a later hotfix changes camp loot or salvage returns, prefer the in-game tooltip and a fresh wiki read over older third-party tables—including the community numbers quoted on this page.

    FAQ

    Can you craft Linen Scraps?

Not so far. Game Rant says they can't be crafted; get them from enemies, chests, fishing traps or salvage.

    Where is the fastest farm?

Loop skeleton ruins, mud Trork camps and mountain goblin camps in Zone 1 Emerald Wilds, and loot camp chests (Polygon / Game Rant).

How many for one Iron Cuirass?

hytalewiki: 6 Linen Scraps, plus 16 iron ingots and 7 Light Leather.

    Can fishing give Linen Scraps?

Yes. A Fishing Trap harvest has about a 3%–3.4% chance for 1–5 scraps (hytaleguide.net / AivarCraft).
